IF- Smoke
Digitally Mastered Smoke Elemental
"Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot ... " (see Wikipedia on Guy Fawkes)
In this country (UK) we celebrate Bonfire or Guy Fawkes night more than Halloween. Now this mostly involves fireworks. Some people are still sufficiently macabre that they make an effigy of Guy Fawkes to burn on a fire. Although technically the fifth of November there have been fireworks going off in the dark with even greater frequency than usual for the last two weeks - this weekend will be the peak. So despite living in a "smoke-less zone" (to avoid smog) for the next few days my skies will be full of smoke.

Smonkey...
I thought you might do something like this when I read the IF topic. We got lucky with the fireworks going off at all hours this year -- new bylaw -- so Zappa only spent three nights shaking uncontrlooably under the chair or table.
Happy Guy Fawkes!
So delicate and very beautiful. Sorry your skies will be full of smoke.
Spooky smoke!
Hope the smokey smog isn't too thick for you this year. Sending TONS more Good Wishes your way ;-)
oh and more for NaNoWriMo, too!
xo
Hi Caroline! This is cool...it does look like a "smonkey," as Cream said. I like the lines and paterns you used to create the sinuous creature. You have some cool stuff I haven't seen.. "wind" is lovely.
Very original! Another beautiful image from you.
Most of the big bangs and fireworks were last night even if not officially Guy Fawkes. Firework displays can be so inspiring - they bring out the kid in me.
We have got an amazingly thick fog this morning (Monday) after two nights thick with fire works - we have appreciated the beauty of the fireworks for themselves.
Andrea - poor Zappa... and we wondered about people suffering from whatever shell shock is called these days... its felt like being in a war zone just from the noise... sometime recently we had a law passed that (except for Bonfire night and New Years Day, I think, there were to be no fireworks set off after 11 pm - this has meant no official displays after that time but a huge increase in drunks thinking its funny to let off fireworks at 3 or 4 a.m. Laws don't seem to work well here...
Benconservato - thank you.
Tinker - thanks and tons back to you too!
Carla - thank you - I've been easing back in to making art and posting after my summer off.
Steve - you are kind.
Mr Nomad - lots of official displays were on Saturday night and lots of back garden ones Sunday night here in Bristol. We spent a lot of time with the lights off admiring all the pretty colours and we did have a play with sparklers in our back garden too...
A smoke elemental - sounds like a Sherlock Holmes' thinks!
Have you ever experienced the mayhem that is Lewes Bonfire Night - mayhem I tells yer...
JN - I like your new face! No I've not been to Lewes on bonfire night... I've heard that Bridgewater carnival is pretty bad too...
i must have had a cheesy moment because i was convinced i read smoked emental. it's a lively piece!
there's a lot of competition with halloween from the west and diwali from the east, poor old Mr. F is losing out - when was the last time we saw boys penny for the guying?
Cheesy... mmm... I liked smoked cheese...
About 12 years ago I think...
Sometimes I think of myself as a People-Elemental... ;)
Tony - if you've managed that you are doing brilliantly!
