Week - Renewal

Illustration Friday's topic is "Red" I was happily making a blue, yellow and black picture until the email came. So here is my picture with added red. Done in Painter IX playing especially with the Hurricane distortion brush.

I'm a bit late in posting my word for this week - Renewal. I like this and really hope its going to live up to its promise.

When logging in to blogger this morning I got the usual thing about moving over to the new version and as usual I said yes... and today was the day when to my surprise it worked! So there is one renewal.

The bed that we ordered a couple of weeks ago turned up today. Its one that they deliver and assemble for you - apparently this turned out to be cheaper than having to replace all the bits people broke when it was a DIY assembly. They were here before 8.30 am and done within 40 minutes. Very neat, efficient and polite. I haven't got a wide enough angle to take a decent photo of it. But you can see the style here - its the boxer bed from the boxer bed company.

What would you like renewal to mean in your life?

just to let you know the anonymous past comments isn't anything to do with me - I guess it happens when you switch to new blogger!

when it's finished, not before, it would be nice to start again. i don't fathom folk who say ''i wouldn't do anything different!'' - i mean, how would you know it was perfect unless you tried the alternatives?

meanwhile, i do see life as a continuous process of renewal, for better or worse.

Renewal for me is a daily...um...what's the word...process.

Some days I don't renew...I think of them as resting before the new season.

Ian - I couldn't work out what you meant until I looked at the comments below - I see now.. luckily I'd not deleted the emails until I'd answered them so I knew it was you!

So would you like to redo your whole life? The problem is that once you make one new decision you are off on a completely new path (probably)... I used to have dreams like that!

GG - some things need renewal daily its true - and yes a rest is need whilst really renewing.

Yes! The red really gives it a kick. This is a fantastic image, caroline. I wish you lived next door so you could teach me how to use Painter.

And I am *so* envious of your new bed: stylish AND practical. I need a hard mattress because of the twisted way I sleep and have been lusting after a new bed for ages. This one would do just fine!

oo, caroline, what a gorgeous piece. i love it!! i'm also digging your word, renewal (cool synchronicity with blogger too!)

I love the fluidity of this picture - esp the blue in the front. I'd say I want to learn to use Painter but it would just me another excuse to sit in front of the computer and play (not a bad thing, necessarily, but then I neglect clay and wonder why I'm feeling all grumpy).

Awesome job Caroline! The red is the essential ingredient to complete this one I think. As for "renewal", I think ian pretty much summed it up for me as well, and probably said it much more eloquently than I could have. Enjoy your weekend (and new bed)!

Andrea - thanks - I wish you lived next door too... but then we'd probably either spend far too much time talking... I slept well last night ;-)

Leah - thanks - I like having my words for the week and getting them on Wednesdays (even if I don't remember to blog them til later) means I've got some time with the word before the weekend to get into it.

Tammy Vitale - thank you - the biggest breakthrough for me was working out that I could print out my pictures... I started doing that last year but its only with the Soul Collage stuff that I've gone into printing out on photo paper and it gives me a real boost that way!

Steve - yes I think I needed that nudge to add red!

oh, you've added an IF submission since I posted last - nice one!

yes, the whole thing would be lived differently: the mistakes aren't worth repeating and the successes wouldn't be as good the second time around. ;o)

Ian - thank you - I don't quite know how you managed to post on here before I'd added the picture though... odd things happen... ;-)

I remember one fear I used to have - that there was an afterlife and it consisted of reruns of one's life over and over again... but without any variations... shiver...

Caroline, re your last comment, that sounds like Nietzsche's idea of eternal recurrence. Ugh, I think living once is more than enough!

Renewal... I think the important part is the "re". It isn't all about completely new, but starting from your roots and evolving I think.

Caroline said...

Zinkibaru - I'm glad it wasn't my idea - I can chuck out other people's much more easily - thank you!

Starting from your roots? Never a truer word.

lovely blending of colors caroline!

renewal in my life is going back to something that i think needs some changes and or for the better.

i have moved over my blog this morning and i have waited 'til it was okay hence, my being late in visiting my links.

first three letters of your wv reminds me of my sister.

Caroline said...

Isay - thank you - so your renewal is conscious change?

I hadn't noticed you being late - I think you are over-conscientious!

Thanks for the wv... perhaps its time I emailed my sister...

I like how the red shines out from the darkness here - it reminds me of a portal into another dimension.

Congratulations on the new bed - all that storage underneath is a great idea.

'love the bed!
As for renewal...for the longest time, I have felt really down and well, er , just plain Blah. A month ago, I got up off my rear, and started walking......Lots! I'm feeling like a whole new person!

Caroline said...

Terri the Tinker - I think that is just what it is - a good way to look at it.

The storage will make life a lot more organised! (Or at least organisable...)

Janet - its great to hear from you - I'm glad you've found your feet and got them walking - it can make all the difference in the world! You sound truly renewed!

Wow, the artwork is stunning, Caroline! I love it! You have Painter so sussed, it's incredible what you can do...
That bed looks sooo lovely, all that storage, and if it came with the view on that link...aaah, what more could you ask?!

Love the new bed! Sounds very re-newing to me.
I suppose renewing would be to clean out the old clutter and continue on with a feeling of having an removed obstacles - Or at least organizing them into smaller mental groupings.

What a beautiful image! Do you know Bob Dylan's song 'Hurricane'? Although not really one of his classics, it's one of my favourites.

Caroline said...

Suzie Q - thanks for the vote of confidence - there are still bits of Painter I've no idea about... part of why I like it... still more to explore!

Joy Eliz - smaller mental groupings? That's an interesting suggestion.

Reluctant Nomad - thank you - I don't know it... or at least its not come to mind yet.

I think my brain's been painted with the Hurricane Distortion Brush.

I suppose I'd like to turn back the clock 16 years or so to a time when I looked forward to things more, wasn't so burned out & jaded.

I fear renewal. Sometimes I'm convinced that I've died & have had to re-live my life over- & still made a pig's ear of it. I've had enough of it- I just want a plain old "newal"
