This is beautiful...it looks like you're really doind fabulous things with painter! I love the bird, and the contrasting textures between the globe and the background are so effective. I also really, really like the piece above...your random facts are fascinating...nothing like having a life filled with music realted things, eh?
Technical question(s) - what kind of computer/os do you use? What kind of tablet do you use? I think I mentioned before that I got an adesso tablet with an Adobe CS2 bundle that also included Painter IX, but I just can't get the tablet and pen to work in "real time." I'm on a Mac G4 with Tiger (OS 10.4), and I've installed all the drivers, etc. to make the thing work, but no dice... It's very frustrating! I want to start learning the program, but using a mouse is too imprecise.

carla - I found a list of the things that adesso says works well with their tablet but it doesn't include painter... so maybe its just not really compatible - I'd get back to whoever sold you that bundle!
