Mug

Mug

Yesterday when I posted my first Art Escapes by Dory Kanter exercise Andrea suggested sharing the actual exercise as well as the result. So this time I've followed the directions a little more closely - a little... this is the same exercise as yesterday.

  1. Do a 1 minute drawing of a mug
  2. Scribble over it leaving large gaps between the lines
  3. Colour in the resulting gaps - Dory Kanter suggested using watercolours but I'm playing digitally here - and she suggested working wet in wet with two different colours within each gap to get interesting variations - I've been using variable colour in Painter IX instead
  4. Make sure you let one area dry before you work adjacent to it (use selection when working digitally)
  5. Have fun with the colours - I don't think she says that explicitly here but its certainly intended!

I don't know why your last couple of posts haven't shown up on my screen till now - it's very odd! The last couple of days, it's still be your "Smoke" post, and now suddenly there are 3 posts that should have shown up before this...one of which mentions your birthday - it seems as though I remember that being shortly after you came back - but now I'm no longer sure of anything!
I hope I wished you happy birthday!

I really like the colors in this mug mosaic. Thanks for the informative comparison review of Amazon and E-Bay. I keep thinking we should do that, since we have enough books to open a bookstore - but have been intimidated by the process.

I love this! And this exercise is exactly what I need... I feel like I'm in a creative slump. I am going to check out Dory's book - it sounds like something I'd enjoy.

Tinker - sorry about the sudden rush of posts - my birthday was in October but I've only just got this book - I've still got a birthday meal to come too - I seem to be having a long drawn out birthday this year. Glad you like my mug!

Joy Eliz - oh its lots of fun - I hope you like it too!

This is a wonderful idea, I can't wait to attempt it. I have a passion for stained glass and use it quite a bit in my digital art. Anyway this should be fun.... I love yours....Thanks for the inspiration!
