Mountain Lion - I made this about 10 years ago. The material was dyed then free-emboridered on a sewing machine. Then made up into a cushion.
The image was inspired by some rock art.

lovely! the dye color effect is beautiful.
Cool! It has such a wild, primitive look...I guess it's the rock art influence. I love the colors, too.
this is great!!! love the expression and colours!
I'm so good! :) I thought it was a painting on a rock until you explained that it was a cushion ~ inspired by rock art! The image is very primitive which I adore. the tie-dyed effect looks like veins ina rock, too.
Nice!!!
Wow, how imaginative and creative!
That's one scary looking cat. Love that primative look too.
Ah jist luuuurve it, Caroline. Free style embroidery? As in you didn't sketch the cat first? Ah luv it, luv it.
I like it Caroline! Primitive yet very modern. Remembers me of Lascaux!
Our cat can go that that when I tease him.
The cat is frightened out of its wits! Can you see the hairs on its back! Meaow!
Well done, Caro.
That is extemely neat!
Wow!! what a great pillow!
Thanks everyone! I've added in a photo of a neighbour's cat to have a more recent contribution too.
Love the colors and the die effects. It also looks like a bit of batik also. Like the primative look also.
This is a fabulous piece. The claws are out of this world. The cat is soooo good. Very good work.
that mountain lion art is awesome, and it looks like it was a lot of fun to create. glad that's not a real cat on your chair - those claws would do some major damage to furniture!
ps thanks for your comment on my blog. i appreciate the kindness. i get frustrated from time to time; it's nice to know people understand!
Another influence from rock art - excellent!! This is a fine cat specimen!! Love the toes :)
it looks like a bit of a batik, too...nice colours and dye effects.
Great! Your mountain cat looks VERY hungry!
Thanks everyone! Its great to have all this appreciation for something I did so long ago.
How clever! What a unique image and cushion! would go well in my home :)
That's very cool, Caroline.
I love it! It has such personality
The batik cat is amazing! That's just what I imagine cats looking like when they howl at night. Nice photo, too.
OOO! I Love the feet and the mouth. Very cool!
This is just so very cool! I love the design and the colors are wonderful. Great cat photo, too! :0)
I was surprised this was on fabric! AWESOME!! Reminds me of a cave painting!! Love the cat photo as well!! :)
These are so fantastic and original. Love the sand painting at the top as well!
wonderful picasso-like work! and the photo is a cool shot too!
