See more Mixed Media Memoirs
Its sometime since I posted a Mixed Media Memoir. In fact I think its over 2 months... whoops, sorry Melba...
For this topic I imagined having to account for my time to an audience of my ancestors. I seem to have turned into a mermaid to do this presentation but that's what happens when you get a fish to do your paintings for you. (A recurring theme in some of my previous MMMs)
"She liked to playWell that's something to live up to isn't it!
She loved to create.
She explored with
her heart, her mind
and her soul.
She loved the essence
in everyone of us
and in all living things."
This audience has featured in a Camel Exchange picture. If you visit you will be able to see the new map that Johnny Norms has created with thumbnails of all the pictures so far.

Reminds me of you too!
Joy Eliz - thank you!
I'll say. I'm trying to come up with something a bit more profound than "liked chocolate quite a bit".
You know, of course, that fishing is widely used as a metaphor for introspection?
Do you fish?
Fishing can be so incredibly boring but incredibly therapeutic and satisfying...well, only if you manage to catch one, of course.
Kyknoord - A great big slab engraved with the word "Chocolate"?
Reluctant Nomad - If fishing means introspection - having turned into a mermaid must mean I'm half-way there - wherever there is? Or does it simply mean I'm destined for a diet of fish forever...
And no I've never actually fished (unless you count attempts to catch tiddlers as a child) but I do think its a brilliant excuse to be outside doing almost nothing!
This is beautiful and so appropriate for the holiday weekend here in the states. I love this and yes, we should all live accordingly.
Awesome!
a.
I think it's significant that you keep returning to this specific theme in MMM. Have you looked into having larger-sized top-quality giclees done of these? I love your digital collages so much. I'd buy a print in a heartbeat.
Melba - Yes I keep on using the key in the hopes that it will open something. Did I mention at any point that I was given a silver key for my last birthday? Not one to anything and I wasn't 21 either. But it had seemed appropriate to the giver and to me.
Well I don't think I have been bowed by the pressure of MMMs, but I do enjoy doing them when I do!
Andrea - thank you - ah now I understand why it was set! Thanks for enlightening me! Here in the UK its a bank holiday too but its not called Memorial Day...
Andrea - thanks for your support - I've not looked into getting giclees done yet - and although I'm happy to blog them I do feel that they are rather personal and I can't quite believe anyone would really want a copy on their walls... hmm... maybe that's part of the point... hmmm...
ooh, so many layers in this picture - it's intriguing to look at - wonderful. ... and i just watched the Goodies clip - hilarious! if only all signs from the universe could come in a similar package :-)
Sx
Susannah - thanks! And glad you liked the Goodies clip too - I suspect many messages do come in such ways but I at least spend too much time laughing at them and too little time actually listening... ;-)
I like it, and the fact that you included a labyrinth in it. I'm glad you typed out the words separately; they are a little hard to read on the piece.
This is some beautiful stuff here and some fine qualities to be remembered by.
Wandering Coyote - glad you like it - the idea of the words on the piece is as much texture as text... which is why I did include them separately.
Steve - thank you. I'll do my best to live up to it.
I'm not sure I'm up to the Memorial challenge this week - but I do like yours! The archetypal images are lovely...and I love your words - especially the first line!
Tinker - thanks - you've been doing the MMMs more often than I have so you can have a week off without feeling guilty!
this is just too cool...the audience is one of my favorite parts! and the TEXTURE! and the painting bird :-)
Can I borrow your Memorial, Caro?
I'll just change She to He and that's MOI !
Love your art!
I love your colours, and your words are inspiring too. Good to see you back on MMM :)
