Is it me or does this one look like something a fantasy games designer could have done?
I can see a wizard sending magical beams at some strange one-eyed smiling beastie!
What do you see?

when i were nobbut a lad my grandfather used to get these periodical encyclopedias and for a while they'd put on the back cover an artist's interpretation of what it looked like on different planets or one of their moons - it was all fanciful stuff because i imagine no one had a real clue. later on they reminded me of album covers done by Roger Dean - you know, for bands like Yes and Uriah Heep all those prog-rock noggins and wazzocks! I'm sure it is a very derivative genre all tied into fantasy and sci-fi.
It reminds me of petrol seeping into a puddle by the side of the road.
Ian - so do you think its forgotten viewings of such fantasy pictures of scenes from space that are stimulating me to see this photo from Hubble as though it were a prog-rock albumn cover?
Now I'm seeing it as a duel to the death between a robot and the wisard as they tear apart the head of a light being...
Maybe your view is saner...
I can see a long necked horse type beastie, a bit like a crude cave painting of a horse, jumping over the moon, and under the moon is a dog like beastie made of plasticine, with a big tongue, sounds like a nurseryrhyme to me...hey diddle diddle!
a dragon on the left and a half face on the right and some awesomely amazing colors. (but those who know me would say I see dragons everyone, considering i AM one. =])
Jo - i can see those too now you've mentioned them! Thank you!
Tammy - ah you are dragon are you? Thanks for letting me know! I wonder if your dragon is Jo's horse?
i can see a witch and people floating around and some bumping each other(?????)
We have a medical book with photos of our innards, lots of see-through 'plates,' each showing a different section, and you can place all the plates together to get a whole picture.
That's what Hubble looks like. Inside the human body.
Breathtaking caroline. Thanks for posting this wonderful image, so nice to see after a long Monday!
Isay - I haven't spotted the witch yet - I'll keep on looking!
GG - that book sounds like its really good for visualing one's insides.
Steve - thanks - there are loads more beautiful images in their gallery.
i have forgotten to tell you before that I still have to buy a new printer hence the reason for not being able to produce satisfactory print outs.
Wow! That blows my mind. I usually tell people that I'm not interested in astronomy, that I prefer botany and biology. I feel like I relate better to them, but this just put me in a trance.
By the way, I'm getting used to my statement glasses a bit more today. Thanks for the encouragement.
Isay - I'm not sure what you are referring to here - sorry I seem to have lost the thread...
Potato Print - glad you liked it - I used to love astronomy - I found it very romantic until I realised it meant having to stay up late... which as a morning person at the time wasn't practical! I'm sure your glasses become you!
I see ME! MWAHAHHAHHAAAA ...
Hellcat you are looking astronomically wonderful! Scary too...
*pffffffffft*
Oh oh you've done a Cheshire cat but there isn't even a grin left!
