On flickr there is a group called Noise and Dust Through The Viewfinder - on it I found the overlay I've used here by Nesster
The idea is to fake what one sees through the viewfinder of a camera.
However I also played with multiple exposures of the same subject as I thought that this was the ideal place to use the HDR effect. Most people use either specialist software or photoshop to create this type of image - as I haven't got either I'm having a go imitating it in Corel Painter IX.5 and not getting close but loving the effects anyway!
HDR is intended to create an image that is more like what sees than what the camera sees but mine are coming out a good deal less real.
Here are some more:
How real is your life?
I like the surreal effects you've gotten on these - they make me think of scenes from a dream...
ReplyDeleteThough I like them both - lately I think my dream life is much more interesting than my real life - but your photos are more interesting still!
I love those images, Caroline! They are so dramatic! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I detect hours of fun was had by all. OK, by you.
ReplyDeleteLast year someone introduced me to Lomo, it's an interesting effect I believe it was originally caused by using a particular cheap massed produced camera from eastern europe, the effect is quite accidental but has an appeal, sort of surreal colours and random focus. apparently photoshoppers have produced a filter to achieve the same on perfectly good photos - I'm sure there's a flickr group for it too.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to play around with images, I like what you've done.
these are great! And I didn't have the word "surreal" until I read the comments, but tinker is right on...the images are realer than real, a bit dark (and oh how I love a bit dark, it adds such a fascinating layer of some kine of story going on that one can't quite catch). Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love these !!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat results, Caro!
ReplyDeleteI shall be experimenting with my Painter.
Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteand hey, tag, you're it! see my blog june 30 for the rules.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like this, I like a lot.
ReplyDeleteLife should look like that sometimes, adds a bit of drama...on Wed. evening, we had something similiar in the sky and sea. Very surreal.
Life is but a dream, right? These pics are delightfully dreamy too Caroline!
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline,
ReplyDeleteFirst, I had a funny thought just now. If I ever meet you -- seeing you without those snail horns -- I probably won't recognize you. Ha.
You are brave to experiment with computer things. I like the effect that you have created. It's kind of dreamy, like hyper-realist painting.
I like the effect in the third, captures the feel of ultra vivid scenery before a thunderstorm. And the way the street lights are growing out of the church in the top one.
ReplyDeleteI really like these Caroline, but think they're quite ghostly...wish my life was but a dream at the moment, but aslong as I'm rowing and not drifting....
ReplyDeleteI dunno, I've always gone for the surreal myself. Beautiful pics, btw!
ReplyDeleteMy life now, surreal...oh yes! But I'm starting to wake up again. Love these photo's!
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline - just to let you know I've given you a Blogger Reflection award on my blog today.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you! xo
I gave you a Blogger Reflection award on my blog today too! So you have to do 10 awards yourself, not 5. =]
ReplyDeleteThese are really interesting. They kind of knock reality sideways in a quite disturbing way. Love the effect you've created.
