Mountain Lion - I made this about 10 years ago. The material was dyed then free-emboridered on a sewing machine. Then made up into a cushion.
The image was inspired by some rock art.

Today I happened to catch this cat in my camera:
lovely! the dye color effect is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCool! It has such a wild, primitive look...I guess it's the rock art influence. I love the colors, too.
ReplyDeletethis is great!!! love the expression and colours!
ReplyDeleteI'm so good! :) I thought it was a painting on a rock until you explained that it was a cushion ~ inspired by rock art! The image is very primitive which I adore. the tie-dyed effect looks like veins ina rock, too.
ReplyDeleteNice!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, how imaginative and creative!
ReplyDeleteThat's one scary looking cat. Love that primative look too.
ReplyDeleteAh jist luuuurve it, Caroline. Free style embroidery? As in you didn't sketch the cat first? Ah luv it, luv it.
ReplyDeleteI like it Caroline! Primitive yet very modern. Remembers me of Lascaux!
ReplyDeleteOur cat can go that that when I tease him.
ReplyDeleteThe cat is frightened out of its wits! Can you see the hairs on its back! Meaow!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Caro.
That is extemely neat!
ReplyDeleteWow!! what a great pillow!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! I've added in a photo of a neighbour's cat to have a more recent contribution too.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors and the die effects. It also looks like a bit of batik also. Like the primative look also.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous piece. The claws are out of this world. The cat is soooo good. Very good work.
ReplyDeletethat mountain lion art is awesome, and it looks like it was a lot of fun to create. glad that's not a real cat on your chair - those claws would do some major damage to furniture!
