No matter what i did, it was wrong... too much contrast, not enough light, lop sided, wrong medium, etc. etc. So I became a librarian. The trouble is that there isn't a practical down-to-earth sounding word like 'writer' or 'musician' to describe someone who creates visual work (unless you are specific and say '['painter', 'illustrator', 'sculptor', 'potter' etc)Julie Oakleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01561525327058025185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16297785.post-1133548416587068982005-12-02T18:33:00.000+00:002005-12-02T18:33:00.000+00:00Thanks paul. Thanks paul.Carolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05635758748108011584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16297785.post-1133545698423494502005-12-02T17:48:00.000+00:002005-12-02T17:48:00.000+00:00The mouse and drums are so cute! nice and small :)...The mouse and drums are so cute! nice and small :) <BR/>I like the apples against the black paper, they really pop out - and you are definatley an artist! The whole education thing is not important-it's doing that is important. Self taught artists can be just as good as school trained artists. If the creativity is there then you are just fine. Thanks for this. It gave me much to think about. I also enjoyed everyone's responses to this theme. Well done. For me, using the label "artist" as a self-descriptor has validated my desire to create and nurtured me to play more. I do love the mouse and wheat dancing... it's charming. I've got a dipping pen and Indian ink (recently bought but "scared" to try) -- you've inspired me. :)Aenigmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07390666186532781059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16297785.post-1133119145476692992005-11-27T19:19:00.000+00:002005-11-27T19:19:00.000+00:00caroline,that is a bittersweet story. Sometimes that is enough for us and sometimes we crave more.It makes me think we should appreciate our time together and the time we live in. Your mom might have had more opportunity in a different time period. I loved your drawings from the past.
